Last devlog for now

Last screenshot Saturday (And maybe my last video) before I’m going on vacay in Europe. I won’t be able to work on the game until I come home since I can’t bring my laptop with me.

Anyways. Henlo!!! Unfortunately, the current prototype got corrupted, so I had to get it cleaned with YYP Maker. However, since it hasn’t been updated in ages, it got rid of all of the particle systems and the pause screen (which is a UI layer, mind you) so I had to manually add those back. Nothing else was lost though.

Anyways, I just wanted to share some things I’ve done in the past few days:

  • The level name banner is close to being polished. Right now, it’s just plain text, and I’ll try to make the banner itself look better once I come home from my vacay, because the way it’s stretched is offputting to me.
  • Portals got a new sprite (yay).
  • Added a lives system. If Mimosa’s HP goes down to 0, he will lose a life. If he has run out of lives, it’s game over. There’s no way to add lives yet.
  • I coded a workaround to deal with the current text behind objects bug that’s been happening to UI layers since it dropped. It’ll be patched in the next Game Maker update, but I’m not sure if I’ll keep it after.
  • Lastly, Flepae are back, but without the wavy movement they had in the previous prototype. I might add it back though.

Anyways that’s all I’ll cover for the time being. See you when I return from Europe.
